About U-evolve

U-evolve is an Edinburgh mental health charity for 11–21-year-olds. Founded in 2015, we support over 100 young people annually with free to access Coaching, Counselling and Therapeutic services. Each year we deliver over 1,000 hours of individual support to help Edinburgh’s young people feel better.

About the role

We are looking for compassionate and committed people to join our board, who align with our values of kindness, empathy, inclusivity, collaboration and learning. You will play a vital role in governance, making important decisions and ensuring that U-evolve meets the mental health needs of young people in Edinburgh. You will attend up to six meetings each year alongside development sessions with the staff team. After launching our strategy at the end of last year it is an exciting time to be joining the organisation as we look forward to our 10th birthday year and beyond.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for passionate individuals who care deeply about youth mental health; its quality, accessibility, and availability. We want our board to reflect the diverse individuals we support and welcome applications from all backgrounds. Previous board experience would be advantage, but it is not essential.

We are currently looking for trustees with skills in the following areas:

Finance – we currently have a vacancy for the Treasurer role which requires professional experience in the financial sector.

Voluntary Sector – we are looking for experience at a senior level in the voluntary sector, ideally with knowledge of both young people and the Edinburgh landscape.

Therapeutic Skills – we would like to appoint a trustee with a therapeutic background who can support the expansion of our counselling and art therapy services alongside ethical codes of practice.

What you will gain

You’ll gain a wealth of experience across a range of disciplines, making high level decisions and working with a diverse group of trustees. You’ll work alongside young people, our dedicate staff team and existing Trustees to make a real difference to lives of young people in Edinburgh.
